Barocius est un cratère de 82 Km et profond de 3500 m situé sur le flan Sud-est de l’imposant Maurolycus (114 Km, 4730 m) dans les montagnes méridionales de la lune. La muraille de Barocius a été usée et érodée par des impacts innombrables. De ces derniers le plus notable est Barocius B (39 Km) qui se trouve à cheval sur le mur Nord-est, et couvre en partie Barocius C (33 Km). Il y a les restes d'un cratère Barocius W (20 Km) juste à la base du mur intérieur Sud-ouest. Sur le plancher on trouve une basse crête centrale excentrée au nord du point médian.

Barocius is an ancient lunar impact crater that is located in the rugged southern highlands of the Moon. It lies just to the southeast of the large Maurolycus crater. To the southwest of Barocius is Clairaut crater, and to the south-southeast lies the Breislak crater.

The rim of Barocius has been worn and eroded by countless subsequent impacts. Of these the most notable is 'Barocius B' which lies across the northeast rim, and intrudes into 'Barocius C'. There is a remnant of a crater 'Barocius W' that lies just inside the southwest interior wall. On the interior floor is a low central peak offset to the north of the floor mid-point.
