Krafft est un cratère de 51 km et profond de 1250 m situé près du limbe occidental d’Oceanus Procellarum (Océan des tempêtes). Au sud on trouve le cratère de même taille Cardanus (50 km, 2300 m). Les deux formations sont reliées par une chaîne de cratères, longue de 60 km, connue sous le nom de Catena Krafft. Le cratère Krafft a une muraille peu élevée et circulaire avec un rempart sur l'extérieur. Il y a plusieurs cratères près du mur méridional qui sont notables pour leur taille par rapport aux dimensions de Krafft.

Krafft is a prominent lunar impact crater located near the western edge of the Oceanus Procellarum. To the north is the lava-flooded Eddington walled-plain. Almost due south is Cardanus crater, and the two are connected by a 60 kilometer-long chain of craters known as the Catena Krafft.

The Krafft crater has a sharp, circular rim with a rampart on the exterior, and no central peak. There are several associated craters near the southern rim that are notable for their size in relation to the dimensions of Krafft crater.
