Rost est un cratère de 50 Km et profond de 2000 m situé sur le plateau continental prés du limbe Sud-Ouest. On le trouve à l’Est de Schiller (179x71 Km). Rost fait parti d’un ensemble très dense de cratères, ainsi sur son versant Sud-ouest on trouve Rost A et sur les versants Du Nord-est deux cratères Rost M et D. Les versants externes sont donc très érodés. Les murs intérieurs sont en terrasses et impactés par des craterlets au Sud. Le fond plat est lui aussi piqué par une multitude de craterlets.

Rost is a lunar impact crater that is located in the southwest part of the Moon, to the southeast of the elongated Schiller crater formation. To the southeast of Rost is the larger Scheiner crater. West-southwest of this formation is the smaller Weigel crater.
This crater is a circular formation with a low rim and a relatively featureless inner wall and interior floor. There are some tiny craterlets around the rim, including one across the northwest wall and another on the inner wall to the south. The interior has no significant features, with only a tiny craterlet to mark the surface.
